Pursuant to the regulations on evaluating the construction works, the Ministry of Construction issued Decision No. 421/QD-BXD dated 10 April, 2018 on putting the Name Board “Work to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Construction sector” in Vietnam on the Lai Chau Hydropower Plant. This is an honour and a pride for staff and workers throughout the process of research, design, construction and operation of Lai Chau Hydropower Work and a positive signal for solidarity, promoting the spirit of self-reliance, self-sustainability, initiatives of technical innovation and production optimization, mobilizing maximum internal resources and potential of mastering science and technology of the units on the construction site.
Before this ceremony, Lai Chau Hydropower Work was put on the Name Board “Work to welcome the 12th National Party Congress” and was awarded by the Ministry of Construction with “High quality Work of 2016” prize.
Lai Chau Hydropower Work is the third largest hydropower work in Vietnam constructed on the mainstream of Da River, the upper-leveled work of Son La Hydropower Work, Hoa Binh Hydropower Work. This is a special-grade construction work approved by the National Assembly at the 6th session of the 12th National Assembly. The project’s construction was commenced in 2011, Unit 1 was put into operation in March, 2016 and completed in 2017, one year ahead of its schedule specified in the Resolution of the National Assembly. This is also a large hydropower work that significantly contributes to national energy security, promoting social economy development of Lai Chau province in particular and the national economy in general. In addition to the benefit of increasing annual budget revenue for Lai Chau province, the construction of Lai Chau Hydropower Work also means the combination of arranging and constructing residential areas, particularly the resettlement areas following the standards for new rural infrastructure, constructing bridges and road which takes a crucial role in promoting the socio-economic development of Lai Chau province and the North West.
Lai Chau Hydropower Project is invested with a total amount of VND 35,700 billion with the main task of supplying power to the National power system with an average annual power output of 4.7 billion kWh; prevent flooding in rainy seasons, supply water in dry seasons for the Northern delta and contribute to socio-economic development in the Northwest. Lai Chau Hydropower Project is also a remarkable project for great progress of the staff, engineers, workers in the Power, Machinery installing sectors of Vietnam. This is a multi-purpose hydropower project bearing a national stature which has been mastered by Vietnamese engineers and workers from planning, designing, constructing and installing, synchronizing equipment, supervising and operation managing./.
