Goals of the Symposium are to promote, exchange, and transfer knowledge and experience in Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering for sustainable development of this field. The Symposium focuses on sharing the latest research results and applications in a number of priority fields of rock from oil and gas exploitation, and construction of tunnels and mines to AI and IoT applications in rock mechanics and engineering, etc. This will provide a professional international forum to exchange new ideas and explore future directions of rock mechanics.
Being a member of the standing committee of the Vietnam Society of Rock Mechanics, MS. Le Quang Huy – engineer of EVNPECC1 is honored to be the chairman at the 3rd session of the Symposium with the topic "Tunnels and underground construction". He is also the co-author of the paper " Rehabilitating and strengthening a leaked underground penstock using permanent strand ground anchors at a hydropower plant in Laos" presented at the Conference.
At the 2nd session: “Physical properties of Rock and mechanical testing methods”, Mr. Nguyen Cong Chinh – Deputy Manager of the Geological Department of EVNPECC1 made a presentation with the topic: "Determination of natural stress of rock mass by hydraulic fracturing method“ (Using Camera technology to precisely determine the direction of the smallest stress).
In the Symposium framework, at the general session and particular sessions, there are 34 scientific reports of many speakers from all over the world with main topics as given below:
- A: Physical properties of Rocks– Testing Techniques
- B: Rock Mechanics & Engineering in Petroleum Engineering
- C: Rock Mechanics & Engineering in Civil Engineering and Mining
- D: Rock Mechanics applied to the Protection and Reinforcement of Global Geoparts, Ancient Sites,...
- E: Numerical Methods in Rock Mechanics and Numerical Modeling
- F: Geodynamic Hazards - Reinforcement and Prediction
- G: Geo –disaster Prediction and Monitoring System
- H: Application AI and IoT in Rock Mechanics and Engineering
The 12th ARMS Symposium will be an extremely memorable event with its high expertise, valuable research results and practical significance, contributing to economic development of Asian– Pacific countries. The Symposium also provides new ideas and a lot of practical experience to establish cooperation, research relationships as well as to look for future international partners for the Symposium participants.
