Participating in the seminar from PECC1 were Mr. Le Minh Tuan – Deputy General Director and managers, engineers from relevant departments of PECC1; from GEDI, were Mr. Wang Ke – Deputy Chief Representative of GEDI in Vietnam; Ms. Nguyen Phuong Dung – Commerce Director; and some other specialists.
At the seminar, after PECC1 introduced the company, GEDI gave a presentation on its capacity and typical offshore wind farm power projects in China performed by GEDI as an EPC Contractor. With their extensive experience in this field, GEDI mentioned about its role in preparation for the National Chinese Standard “Code for Design of offshore wind farm”. GEDI had highlighted an outstanding feature which is the similarity on climatic and topographical conditions between the location of their offshore wind farm power projects and the coastal strip of Vietnam. This will create favourable conditions for the study, data reference between projects.
After the presentation, many in-depth specialized questions focusing on the difference between onshore wind, near shore wind, and offshore wind power projects were raised and discussed, including economic aspects (comparison between the cost for performance of an offshore wind farm power project in China and in Vietnam) and also technical aspects. Technically those were several notices in turbine selection with some features about turbine blades to be suitable with wind conditions in Vietnam. The discussion also covered features of wind resources for offshore wind farm power projects in Vietnam including questions on the time needed for measuring wind optimal height of MET. mast. Furthermore, issues relating to transmission line such as how far the distance from offshore to the shore is, which suitable transmission technology should be applied, how to treat/solve the cable breakdown. For offshore wind farm power project, cable construction under the sea is always an interesting topic and GEDI also shared their experience in the construction of underground cables. For a project, structure is an important specialty. A series of questions relating to structure had been raised by PECC1 engineers to GEDI.
Closing the seminar, PECC1 and GEDI hopefully expected that both sides shall have fruitful cooperation opportunities in the future.
