Attending the signing ceremony on behalf of Erex were Mr. Munetaka Hagiya, General Director; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thai, Project Manager of the Tuyen Quang Biomass Power Plant; and Mr. Nguyen Van Cao, Project Manager of the Yen Bai 1 Biomass Power Plant.
On behalf of PECC1, attending were Mr. Nguyen Huu Chinh, General Director; Mr. Nguyen Kim Cuong, Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the Center for Thermal Power and Renewable Energy; and leaders of relevant departments from both companies.

The two biomass power projects of Yen Bai 1 and Tuyen Quang are part of Erex's plan to build nearly two dozen biomass power plants in Vietnam. The duo are the first biomass power plants in Vietnam in line with the country’s national power development plan VIII (PDP VIII), according to Erex. Construction of the two power plants is set to take 2.5 years. Each can consume 500,000 tons of wood residue as fuel yearly.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Munetaka Hagiya expressed his joy that PECC1 and Erex had officially signed a Project Management Consulting Contract for these two projects. He emphasized: "Today's signing ceremony marks an important step forward in the cooperative relationship between the two parties. We believe that, with PECC1's capacity and experience, the project will be implemented effectively, ensuring that it meets the highest technical standards." Mr. Munetaka Hagiya also shared his hope that this cooperation will open up many other opportunities in the future between the two parties.

The construction of the Yen Bai 1 and Tuyen Quang biomass power plants is of great significance; it is both in line with the national power development orientation according to the Power Plan VIII, and contributes to diversifying primary fuel sources for power generation, ensuring energy security in the two provinces of Yen Bai and Tuyen Quang. Furthermore, once completed, the two projects will contribute to Vietnam's journey towards carbon neutrality by 2050, as committed by the Prime Minister at the COP26 Conference.
