EVNPECC1 welcomes the delegation from the Lao department of energy for a working session

On September 15, 2026, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 (EVNPECC1) hosted a working session with a delegation from the Department of Energy under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (the Delegation), as part of a program for sharing experience in dam safety management in Vietnam. Delegates from EVNPECC1 and the Lao Department of Energy took a commemorative photo at the meeting.

ENHANCING VIETNAM–LAOS ENERGY COOPERATION

In his welcoming remarks, General Director Nguyen Kim Cuong said that he was honored to welcome the Delegation and affirmed that the visit was a valuable opportunity for both sides to strengthen friendship, cooperation, and experience sharing in the energy sector, an area of strategic importance to the development of both countries. On behalf of the Lao Delegation, Head of the Delegation, Mr. Sanya Somvichith stated that the purpose of the visit was to learn from Vietnam's experience and exchange expertise in dam safety management, while acknowledging and highly appreciating EVNPECC1’s contributions in Laos over many years.

EVNPECC1 SUPPORTS KEY ENERGY PROJECTS IN LAOS

Through its involvement in numerous key power projects in Laos, EVNPECC1 has participated in major hydropower projects, including Xekaman 1, Xekaman 3, Luang Prabang, Xekaman Sanxay, Nam Emoun, and Nam Kong; cross-border transmission line projects, including the 500kV Monsoon-Thanh My transmission line and the 500kV transmission line from Hatxan to Pleiku substation; as well as the 600MW Monsoon Wind Power Project, the largest wind farm in Southeast Asia. These projects not only contribute to a stable electricity supply but also stand as vivid examples of the solidarity and strong cooperation between the two neighboring countries. In particular, the Head of the Lao Delegation expressed interest in EVNPECC1’s capabilities in wind power, a priority sector for development by the Lao Government and that has significant potential to attract investment

SHARING EXPERIENCES IN DAM SAFETY AND HYDROPOWER PLANT MONITORING

During the meeting, EVNPECC1 experts delivered two in-depth technical presentations, sharing practical experience and technical solutions implemented by the Company: “The 3^rd Dam Safety Inspection Report - Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant” and “Monitoring of Structural Displacement and Deformation.” The two sides engaged in open and lively discussions on these topics, as well as on experience in monitoring, early warning, and the application of digital transformation in the management and operation of hydropower plants. EVNPECC1 reaffirmed its strong commitment to applying advanced technical standards to ensure safety, efficiency, and sustainability across its projects.

EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR VIETNAM - LAOS ENERGY COOPERATION

The working session at EVNPECC1’s headquarters marked the opening activity of the Delegation’s working program in Vietnam from September 15^th to 17^th, 2026, which includes field visits to the Hoa Binh and Son La hydropower plants. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their confidence that the visit would open up further opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the area of energy safety, thereby further strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
