TQHP consists of 3 units, with a total capacity of 342MW, managed and operated by Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company. Since starting to generate electricity until now (January 31, 2008), TQHP has always completed and surpassed the electricity production output assigned by EVN. Of which, 6 years (2013, 2015, and the years from 2017 to 2020) surpassed the design output. Particularly in 2020, the electricity output reached a record high of 1,609 billion kWh, equal to 121% of the design output.
Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company (TQHC) has also contributed more than VND 3,000 billion to the state budget, of which the local budget payment is more than VND 2,419 billion.
In particular, TQHP has well promoted its role as a multi-purpose hydroelectric project. The construction reservoir has participated in regulating flood control and effectively reducing floods downstream.
Leaders of TQHC and operation crew witnessing moment TQHP reached an output of 20 billion kWh
According to Mr. Vu Van Tinh - Director of the company, 20 billion kWh of power has partly affirmed the role and position of TQHP in producing and supplying electricity to the country. Also according to Mr. Vu Van Tinh, the effects of global climate change have been exerting a major impact on the flow rules, causing disadvantages for the operation of the reservoir and power generation of the plant. Therefore, the company pays special attention to the task of ensuring safe and continuous operation, while also regulating hydrology appropriately and according to procedures to make the most of water resources and safety for downstream areas.
