Construction Implementation Ceremony for the 220kV Phu Binh 2 Substation Project, the 220kV Phu Binh 2 Transmission Line branching from Thai Nguyen to Bac Giang

On the morning of September 4, 2024, in Diem Thuy Commune, Phu Binh District, Thai Nguyen Province, the Construction Implementation Ceremony for the 220kV Phu Binh 2 Substation Project, the 220kV Phu Binh 2 Transmission Line branching from Thai Nguyen to Bac Giang and 110kV projects in Thai Nguyen Province was held. In the project, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) is the Client and PECC1 acts as the Design Consultant.

Mr. Phung The Anh - Director of PECC1’s Consultancy Center for Power Network (fourth from left) and contractors received congratulatory flowers from EVNNPC’s Leaders for their efforts in implementing the project

In this project, PECC1 was trusted by the Client to sign contract package number PB2.G04 with the following works:

  • Investigation consultancy;
  • Feasibility Study Report Preparation
  • Technical Design Preparation;
  • Construction Drawings Design – Cost Estimation Preparation;
  • Conversion of forest land use purpose, preparation of environmental registration dossier;
  • Information security dossier Preparation.

The total investment of 220KV Phu Binh 2 Substation and 220KV Phu Binh 2 transmission line branching from Thai Nguyen to Bac Giang is  VND 559.2 billion, divided into two (2) phases.

Phase I shall be implemented in 2 years (2024 and 2025), the investment and construction of 2 new 220KV transformers with a capacity of 2 x 250MVA and transmission lines) shall be completed.

Phase II (from the year 2026 to 2030):  1 more transformer with a capacity of 250MVA shall be continued to invest in the construction and installation of; a new 220kV double-circuit  transmission line with the length of 9.16km connecting to the 220kV Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang transmission line, supplying electric power to the 220kV Phu Binh 2 substation according to the approved plan.

Project’s parameters :

The Substation: Construction of 220kV Phu Binh 2 Substation with a scale of 3x250MVA; in this phase, the 02 transformers of 2x250MVA shall be installed first.

- On the 220kV side: It is designed according to the of double busbar diagram with bypass busbars and main busbar segments. In this phase, the equipment shall be installed according to the double busbar diagram with bypass busbars, including 06 feeders;

- On the 110kV side: It is designed according to the of double busbar diagram with bypass busbars and main busbar segments. In this phase, the equipment shall be installed according to the double busbar diagram with bypass busbars, including 13 feeders;

- On the 35kV side: It is installed outdoors to supply auxiliary power via 35/0.4kV-250kVA transformers connected to the local power grid;

- On the 22kV side: block diagram is  applied; outdoor equipment shall supply auxiliary power via 22/0.4kV - 250kVA transformer

The 220kV Transmission Line: 9.16km of 220kV double-circuit transmission line shall be installed from 220kV Phu Binh 2 Substation to the transitional connection on the 220kV Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang Transmission Line

- Starting point: 220kV Switchyard of 220kV Phu Binh 2 Substation;

- Ending point: Location of tower 30 (newly constructed tower, positioned on the center line between the two towers 113 and 114 of the existing 220kV Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang transmission line).

Machines are well-prepared to serve for the project construction.

The project's completion contributes to power distribution, enhancing the transmission capacity of the existing transmission  line, meeting the demand for load growth to serve the socio-economic development of Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang provinces. In addition, the project will create strong links between areas within the power system, increase the safe and stable operation of the national power system, and reduce the capacity loss and power loss in the system, improve the production and business efficiency of Vietnam Electricity.
