110 kV substation of the Plant
KCP - Phu Yen Biomass Power Plant has started being constructed since 2015 in the mountainous district Son Hoa (Phu Yen province), after KCP Sugar Factory of the Company increased its extraction capacity to 8,000 tons of sugarcane per day.
Such a big residual amount of bagasse if being properly treated will generate a huge amount of heat. Therefore, the KCP Vietnam Industries Limited determined to develop a biomass power plant with the capacity of 60 MW and the investment cost of nearly VND 1,300 billion.
So far, the Project has completed its first phase with 30 MW capacity and the annual electricity output of more than 70 million kWh.
At present, KCP Vietnam Industries Limited continues to perform the second phase of the Project, so that when the sugar factory capacity expands to 10,000 tons of sugarcane per day, the biomass power plant will reach its designed capacity of 60 MW.
Compared to thermal power and hydro power generation, biomass power generation is considered more environmentally friendly, at the same time the Project will address many other economical questions.
According to Mr. K.V.S.R Subbaiah – General Director of KCP Vietnam Industries Limited: “When the Power Plant comes into operation, it will contribute to promoting the local economic development of the province, increasing the revenue of the Company and raising the incomes of sugarcane growers. In the coming time, the Company will accelerate its plan of developing an alcohol and microbiological fertilizer processing plant using by-products generated during sugar producing process.
